Henna powder

One of the only certified organic henna powders on the market, organic Rajasthani gives a beautiful rich colour and releases in about 4 hours with warm water for body art and 2 hours with warm water for hair at a room temp of around 27C. This beautiful powder is not as finely sifted as Jamila so will need straining through a stocking to prevent the occasional clog in your cone or bottle.
This henna is fairly elastic and is easy to drape smooth lovely lines. If you are not accustomed to elastic henna, it is sometimes combined with Jamila to tone down the texture.
Colour develops in approximately 2 days on skin and hair.

Jamila is probably the most trusted and well known branded henna powder on the market. It is grown in Pakistan and the sift is amazingly fine. Jamila will very rarely clog an applicator. It requires a long dye release time, often overnight. In warm areas and mixed with an acidic liquid dye release can be achieved in 6 hours. In cooler areas or when mixed with water dye release can be anything from 12 - 48 hours.
The colour of Jamila stain on skin and hair is also slower to develop, taking on average three days.

BLONDES
GOLDEN BLONDE
Cassia is used to enhance golden tones in light hair colours. Blonde and grey hair will benefit, being lifted and brightened. Cassia also has good strengthening and conditioning properties.

STRAWBERRY BLONDE
beautiful strawberry blonde can be achieved on blonde hair by using a mix of primarily cassia with a dash of henna for red tones. Cassia with a dash of henna may give strawberry blonde on grey hair. Most likely it will give a golden copper. Please do a strand test first as it depends how dye resistant your hair is.

RED
Blonde and light brown hair can be dyed red with henna. Medium to dark hair will dye auburn. Red hair will be more vibrant red.

AUBURN
Medium to dark brown hair will dye auburn with henna alone. Blonde and red will need a small amount of indigo added to the henna mix or it will be quite red. Add 1 tablespoon indigo to 100g henna - strand test first with a tiny batch as indigo has to be used straight away and adjust if necessary.

WARM BROWN
Adding indigo into a henna mix will give a warm brown. The lighter your hair colour, the more indigo you will need to get a darker brown. Do NOT use indigo alone unless you want blue-geen mouldy looking hair.

COOL BROWN
Henna, indigo, and amla together will dye hair a cool brown and tone back the red. The more indigo in the mix, the darker the colour will be. Do NOT use indigo alone unless you are after blue-green mouldy looking hair

How much do I need?
This is a guide only... you may need more or less depending on how thick or thin you hair is. It is better to get too much than not enough.
Quantities are the total required for the length, so for example if you have short hair (100g) and you want to do a warm brown, you might do 70g of henna and 30g of indigo to make a total of 100g. Use this as a guide and feel free to ask advice on proportions!
